## What are the section-wise marks in the CBT?

NCRTC published the CBT pattern for post codes D01 to D09 in a syllabus notice on **14 October 2026**. Sections A and B are common to all post codes. Section C changes with the post code.

| Section | Subject | Questions | Marks | Common to all post codes |
| ------- | ------------------------------------- | --------- | ----- | ------------------------------- |
| A | Reasoning | 20 | 20 | Yes |
| B | General Knowledge and Current Affairs | 20 | 20 | Yes |
| C | Subject Knowledge | 60 | 60 | No, it depends on the post code |
| | Total | 100 | 100 | |

Section C carries **60** of the 100 marks. The post-specific subject therefore decides most of the score. The [syllabus page](/article/ncrtc/ncrtc-supervisor-operations-2026/syllabus/) lists the topics of Section C for each post code.

## How much time does each question get?

The CBT gives 90 minutes for 100 questions. This is an average of **54 seconds** for each question. A wrong answer loses no marks, and a blank answer earns no marks. A candidate can answer every question at no cost to the score.

## What is the pattern for Supervisor-I (Operations)?

Post code D01 uses the same three sections as all other post codes. Section C has 60 questions on eight topic groups. The groups cover these areas:

- RRTS and high speed operations
- Operational systems and interfaces
- Safety regulations and standards
- Risk assessment and operational safety
- Emergency and contingency management
- Operational communication
- Analytical and decision-making skills
- Adaptability and operational situational awareness

## What marks must candidates score to qualify?

| Category | Minimum qualifying percentage |
| --------------------------- | ----------------------------- |
| UR, OBC (NCL), EWS | 60% |
| SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen | 50% |

Qualifying marks give no right to selection. NCRTC selects candidates on merit, based on the number of positions and the performance in each category.

## What rules apply in the exam hall?

NCRTC may hold the CBT for several posts at the same date and time. A candidate can appear in the CBT for one post only. A candidate who brings a mobile phone or a communication device into the exam hall commits misconduct and may be expelled.
