- SSC fixes separate cutoffs for LDC/JSA and two DEO groups.
- Every category cutoff fell from 2024 to 2025 for LDC/JSA.
- A score above the cutoff is the target, not the minimum qualifying mark.

The SSC CHSL previous year cutoff shows how many normalized Tier-I marks a candidate needed to reach Tier-II. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) published the 2024 figures on 6 September 2024. It published the 2025 figures on 27 February 2026. Read the [SSC CHSL 2026 guide](/article/ssc/ssc-chsl-2026/) for the overview, and the [selection process](/article/ssc/ssc-chsl-2026/selection-process/) to see how Tier-I fits in.

| Category | 2024 cutoff | 2025 cutoff | Change |
| -------- | ----------- | ----------- | ------ |
| UR | 157.36 | 144.26 | -13.10 |

Many more candidates scored at or above the UR cutoff. SSC lists them in addition to the UR number. In 2025, for example, 9,007 OBC candidates and 4,466 EWS candidates qualified at the UR cutoff of LDC/JSA.

## What were the DEO cutoffs?

SSC fixed separate cutoffs for DEO posts. In 2024, SSC used one DEO and DEO Grade 'A' list. In 2025, it used two lists.

| Category | 2024 DEO list | 2025 DEO, Science with Mathematics | 2025 DEO, other posts |
| -------- | ------------- | ---------------------------------- | --------------------- |
| UR | 176.27 | 169.54 | 165.27 |

SSC shortlisted 1,630 candidates for DEO posts in 2024. In 2025, it shortlisted 614 for the Science with Mathematics list and 1,767 for the other list.

## How can a candidate read a cutoff?

- A cutoff is a **normalized** score. It can differ from the raw score.
- The cutoff changes each year with the paper and the number of candidates.
- The cutoff only shortlists a candidate for Tier-II. The merit list uses Tier-II marks.
- A candidate must also reach the minimum qualifying marks of 30% for UR, 25% for OBC and EWS, and 20% for others.

See the [exam pattern](/article/ssc/ssc-chsl-2026/exam-pattern/) to turn these marks into a number of correct answers. The [preparation strategy page](/article/ssc/ssc-chsl-2026/preparation-strategy/) shows how.

## Frequently asked questions

### What was the SSC CHSL Tier-I cutoff for UR in 2025?

For LDC/JSA, the UR cutoff was 144.25858 normalized marks. SSC shortlisted 5,070 UR candidates at that mark. SSC published it in the Tier-I result write-up dated 27 February 2026.

### What was the SSC CHSL Tier-I cutoff for UR in 2024?

For LDC/JSA, the UR cutoff was 157.36168 normalized marks. SSC shortlisted 6,362 UR candidates at that mark. SSC published it in the Tier-I result write-up dated 6 September 2024.

### Is the cutoff the same as the minimum qualifying mark?

No. The minimum qualifying mark is 30% for UR, 25% for OBC and EWS, and 20% for others. The cutoff is the score that SSC needed to fill the Tier-II shortlist, and it is much higher.

### Why do DEO cutoffs differ from LDC/JSA cutoffs?

SSC fixes separate category-wise cutoffs for three post groups. The DEO groups had fewer candidates and higher cutoffs in 2024 and 2025. The notice allows this under Para 17.3.

### Does SSC use normalized marks for the cutoff?

Yes. When SSC holds Tier-I in many shifts, it normalizes the marks by its published method. SSC uses the normalized scores for the cutoff. SSC explained the method in a notice dated 2 June 2025.
