The descriptive test carries 30 marks and lasts 30 minutes. It is in English. The candidate types the answers on a computer. It has three parts of 10 marks each: an essay, a precis, and a comprehension.
The test is qualifying in nature. NICL does not count the marks for interview shortlisting or final selection. NICL checks the answers only for candidates who clear the objective test. The candidate still needs the minimum score to qualify.
Do NICL AO exams have a sectional cutoff?
Yes. A candidate must clear each section on its own. The candidate must also reach the overall score. A high score in one section does not cover a low score in another section. Spend time on every section in your practice.
