RRB Dialysis Technician selection process 2026: what are the stages?
- CBT. All candidates for the notified posts take one CBT. The RRBs may add more CBTs if needed. See the exam pattern.
- Document verification. The RRB calls shortlisted candidates and checks original documents.
- Medical examination. The railway medical authority checks if you meet the medical standard for the post.
- Empanelment and allotment. The RRB prepares a panel by merit and allots the Railway zone or unit.
How does the RRB shortlist candidates for document verification?
The RRB shortlists candidates RRB-wise, based on CBT merit. It calls candidates equal to the number of vacancies for that RRB. With 1 Dialysis Technician vacancy, very few candidates reach document verification.
The RRB normalises marks if it holds the CBT in more than one shift. If two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate ranks higher. If the age is also the same, the RRB uses the alphabetical order of the given name.
What are the minimum qualifying marks in the CBT?
You must score the minimum marks for your category to stay in the merit list. The rule also applies to ex-servicemen and PwBD candidates, as per their community.
| Category | Minimum percentage | Marks out of 100 |
|---|---|---|
| UR and EWS | 40% | 40 |
| OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) | 30% | 30 |
| SC | 30% | 30 |
| ST | 25% | 25 |
The RRBs may relax the minimum marks by 2 for PwBD candidates if PwBD candidates are short against reserved vacancies. A score above the minimum does not guarantee a call. The RRB ranks candidates by merit within the number of vacancies.
What happens at document verification?
You must bring your original certificates. The RRB gives no extra time to a candidate who does not bring them. The RRB cancels the candidature of a candidate who is absent.
- Bring two sets of self-attested photocopies with the originals.
- Upload a true-colour scan of your photo and signature on the document verification portal before your date.
- Bring certificates in English or Hindi, in the prescribed formats. Add a self-attested translation if a certificate is in another language.
- Bring a colour passport photograph that is not older than two months.
- Bring a no objection certificate (NOC) from your employer if you work in a government department or a public sector undertaking.
You must also bring the category certificate for any reservation, age relaxation, or fee concession that you claimed. Without it, the RRB treats you as an unreserved candidate, if you are eligible.
What happens at the medical examination?
The railway medical authority tests you against medical standard B1 for the Dialysis Technician post. Read the eligibility rules for the vision standards. If you fail, you do not get an alternative post. You may get one final chance to file a medical appeal with the prescribed charges.
How does the RRB empanel candidates?
The RRB empanels candidates by CBT merit. The candidate must also pass document verification and the medical examination. The RRB then allots the post and Railway zone by merit, post preference, medical fitness, and vacancy. The RRB only recommends names. The Railway administration issues the offer of appointment.
