SPMCIL Assistant Manager IT exam day checklist: what to carry

  • The original admit card with a recent photograph affixed
  • One original valid photo ID, as the admit card specifies
  • One photocopy of that photo ID

Read the admit card page for the download steps.

Which photo ID proofs does SPMCIL accept?

SPMCIL accepts one of these IDs. The ID must show exactly the same name as the admit card.

  • PAN card
  • Passport
  • Permanent driving licence
  • Voter card
  • Bank passbook with photograph
  • Photo ID issued by a Gazetted Officer on official letterhead, with photograph
  • Valid, recent ID card from a recognized college or university
  • Aadhaar card or e-Aadhaar with photograph
  • Employee ID
  • Bar Council ID card with photograph

SPMCIL does not accept a ration card or a learner driving licence.

What if your name differs on the admit card and the ID?

The name on the admit card must match the name on the ID. SPMCIL does not allow a candidate with a mismatch to take the exam. Female candidates who changed a name after marriage must check this before the exam day.

A candidate who changed a name can appear only with one of these original documents: the Gazette notification, the marriage certificate, or an affidavit.

What are the reporting and time rules?

The reporting time on the admit card comes before the start time of the test. A candidate who reports after the reporting time cannot take the exam. The test lasts 120 minutes. Candidates may need to stay at the venue for about 3 hours. This time covers verification, document collection, login, and instructions.

SPMCIL does not accept requests to change the centre, date, or session. Read the exam date page for the status of the exam.

What are the rules in the exam hall?

Each wrong answer costs one fourth of the marks for that question. See the exam pattern page.

A candidate who carries a mobile phone or a similar device into the exam hall may face action. The same applies to a candidate who uses unfair means, impersonates another person, or shares test content. The action can include these steps:

  • Disqualification from the exam
  • A ban from SPMCIL exams, either permanent or for a set period
  • Termination of service if the candidate has already joined SPMCIL

SPMCIL also compares the answers of candidates to find similar patterns. It may cancel the candidature of a candidate whose responses it finds to be shared.

How does a scribe or extra time work?

A visually impaired candidate or a candidate with a permanent writing speed problem can use own scribe at own cost. The scribe must not be a candidate for the same exam. The candidate must indicate the scribe in the online application form.

A candidate with a locomotor disability or cerebral palsy, and a visually impaired candidate, can get 20 minutes of extra time for each hour. Only registered candidates get this time.

What if a technical problem occurs?

SPMCIL says it will try to fix the problem. It may move candidates or delay the test. A re-exam is at the sole discretion of the test conducting body. SPMCIL rejects a candidate who refuses to move or to join the delayed test.

Next, read the SPMCIL Assistant Manager IT selection process to see the stages after the exam.
