How to group the civil topics for study

You can group the nine topics into four blocks. This grouping helps you plan your weeks. It does not show how NCRTC splits the marks.

  • Materials and cost: Building Materials, and Estimating, Costing, and Valuation.
  • Field work: Surveying.
  • Structures: Theory of Structures and SOM, and Concrete Technology and RCC and Steel Design.
  • Water and transport: Hydraulics and Fluid Mechanics, Irrigation Engineering, Transportation Engineering, and Environmental Engineering.

Match each topic to the subjects of your diploma course. Use your own class notes and your course textbooks. Write short revision notes for each topic. Test yourself on one topic at a time before you attempt full mock tests.

Section C carries more marks than Sections A and B together. Spend most of your study time there. Keep a small daily slot for Reasoning and for Current Affairs.
